In the race to become the next Uber there’s a good chance that tax is being treated as an afterthought by many startups. But as in all walks of life, a few sensible steps early may avoid a wealth of pain later.

The webinar is aimed at people directly involved with or advising startups, and is designed to provide critical tax information such as:

  • identifying potential business structures for co-founded startups;
  • recognising the key indicia of carrying on a business and the tax consequences for startups; and
  • the changing regulatory environment and key tax consequences of adopting common crowdfunding models.

Participants in the webinar will:

  • gain an understanding of available business structures and their tax implications;
  • understand the importance of “carrying on a business” for tax purposes and the complexities that can arise for startups; and
  • be able to knowledgably discuss the available crowdfunding models and the key tax consequences of adopting each model.

People should attend because the webinar will:

  • provide tips to help identify potential tax pitfalls for those involved in startups; and
  • explain potentially unfamiliar concepts, such as crowdfunding.

Tax and accounting professionals advising;

  • startups and startup founders; and
  • crowdfunding campaign promoters, intermediaries and funders.
